This is a still life drawing made from graphite and charcoal. The use of high contrast helps to show case the highlights on the black chess pieces. This type of practice helps artist to visually layout perspective and proper lighting. These types are pieces stretching because they require proper perspective, shading, layout, and visual hierarchy. Simple sketches done with detail can help develop skill. This graphite drawing of my hand is one I have done many times. Sometimes I work on speed and other times I work on detail. The important part is to keep practicing because it will build up your technique. This digital piece was created as a backdrop image. It is currently being used on a price brochure for a handmade beauty and bathroom product company. This was created in Adobe Illustrator. Notice the subtle color fades on the bathtub. I also included the small detail of a reflected light in the bubbles. Every good piece of art needs to have a solid foundation. Taking the time to get the foundation as accurate as possible will significantly make the finish piece more polished and refined. This particular clock piece took focus and time. It was created with just a pencil and ruler. I tried to make it as realistic as possible. Using this as a base and then adding color or shading with help is making this a realistic work. This is an acrylic painting of the Sonoran Desert during a thunderstorm. There are vibrant colors that are accurate views of what the sky can look like during a storm and dusk. This type of art helps to build color relations as well as spatial layouts. This graphite portrait of a young girl is a good example of being well balanced in skill. It takes effort, time, and precision to develop the shading skill to make smooth shadowing on facial features. The crook of a smile to the arch of the nose are all done with shading. I attempted to have no solid lines at all.
